As exciting as the first couple of months of this high school boys’ basketball season have been for not only this hoop squad but its fans, the best thing it can now do is forget the past and put all their attention on the immediate future.
The No. 16 state-ranked Golden Tor hoop boys are now a sizzling 19-2 after scalping the Pecos Eagles, 72-40, here on Tuesday night at Follis.
“This was our final tune-up. We looked pretty good in spots, but not so well in others. We ended up having to call a couple of times outs here tonight just to get our guys’ attention,” Moreland said. “But we’re zero and zero again after tonight. Nothing we’ve done up to this point really matters anymore.
“Now, we’ve just got to get ready to go to war.”
That war that Moreland constantly refers to is District 2-4A – one of the toughest high school boys’ basketball districts in the state – that features four ball clubs currently ranked in Class 4A’s Top 25.
